Unexpectedly, I’ve found my way into a new studio! My dear friend Colt Prehm - who has been a peer of mine on this artistic path for nearly twenty years - had been working there for the past few years until some unforeseen events have led him away from Santa Fe. Colt generously handed over the keys to his studio & classes to me. I am very sorry to see my friend leave town, but I cannot be more excited and grateful for the opportunity to teach and create in this inspiring space.
However I will miss being just downstairs from my wife Jillian Mazur and her studio over on Second St. We’ve been there together for a number of years, and it’s been pretty special to share that space with her and to have a small role as a presence for some of her kids’ art classes. I’m hopeful that we’ll find a nice rhythm and I know we will still be able to have plenty of opportunities to work alongside one another.
I’m really looking forward to stretching out and making new work, but I’m equally thrilled for a studio that I can teach in. I plan on continuing with the weekly Wednesday portrait & figure classes that Colt was running and have decided to add multi session long poses into the mix on Thursdays starting in October.
